Welcome To The Mahjong-O-Matic

The Mahjong-O-Matic is a trainer for determining the scores of winning Mahjong hands. It gives the opportunity to examine winning hands without having to play the game first, and is therefore not intended for learning how to play the game. The system has been specifically designed to maximize the diversity of winning hands, which makes it possible to examine uncommon combinations rarely seen when playing with other players.

The presented hands are not generated randomly but are carefully constructed based on a complex set of rules. This can be illustrated by the fact that the system uses five different hinting systems and a 6GByte large database to drive 108 individual formula's.

As an automated sparring-partner, the Mahjong-O-Matic will give authoritative answers without having to slow down the game or feel embarrassed towards others players. It is also possible to instruct the Mahjong-O-Matic to present a specific set of challenges reflecting different parts of the scoring system.

At this moment there are two types of challenges: analyzing a winning hand to determine the tile patterns and their equivalent points, and determine whether a presented hand has the minimum required points to call a winner. The rule system used is "Chinese Official". Other types of challenges and/or rulesets may be added in the future. Suggestions are welcome!
